OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Q: This picture… Tell us about it and the inspiration behind the work/series.

This photo was part of a series that was born from an exercise in taking still life photographs as part of a workshop led by Saga Sig. I was trying to use light as a compositional element and at the same time thinking about the change of season from fall to winter. I was very inspired by Wolfgang Tillman’s installation presentations and you can see that in this series in which I am mixing different crops and using film and digital pictures together.

Q: Your experience from this workshop.

I had a great experience. I felt like I was really pushed outside of my comfort zone which of course is painful but good for creating. Saga Sig’s words, “Think Less, feel more” will stay with me. It was the perfect advice.

Q: What kind of photography do you like the most? Where do you look for inspiration?

It’s hard to pick a favorite. There’s many types I like but I identify most with contemporary photography. I find inspiration when I grab my camera and go outside or maybe from something I’m reading. I’m rereading Jane Kenyon’s Otherwise for the 5th time. It’s a huge influence in my work.
